Summary | Shoot formation of Astragalus membranaceus from shoot tips was successfully conducted on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium containing kinetin (10-5M). Root differentiation from the shoot was observed on MS medium containing NAA (10-6M). The plantlets were successfully transplanted to sterilized "kanumatuti." Thin layer chromatography of MeOH extract from the callus, shoots and adventitious root showed that they contained those flavonoids known to be contained in Astragali Radix, but that only a few of them contained astragalosides. |
