| Summary | Meristem tips of Rheum palmatum L. grown on a paper bridge placed on a MS-medium containing 8 mg/l of naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and 2.56 mg/l of benzylaminopurine (BAP) were induced to form shoots which gave rapidly proliferating shoots within 14 days of transfer to a medium containing 4 mg/l of NAA and 7.56 mg/l of BAP. Subsequent transfer of the shoots to a BAP free medium resulted in root development within 3 weeks. The rooted plantlets were readily established in peat pots with vermiculite within three weeks and were subsequently cultivated with soil for 6 months (the highest being 30 cm after 6 months). |
